London is 99 days away! It feels weird to say that.

I applied for my passport last weekend and the State Department has already cashed my check so I think it's safe to say that I've been approved for one. Now, I just have to wait for it.

Life is really good right now. I am really blessed. I'm so fortunate to be able to do the things I love and have the opportunity to experience things that others might not.

Running, baking, traveling, breathing....what more could a girl ask for?!

Don't think, just run...

Half marathon training this time around feels different. And I'm not exactly sure how.

Last year it was all-consuming, what I thought about alllll the time, what I woke up thinking about and the last thing I thought about before I went to sleep,

Maybe I'm just used to all this now? Maybe I was just over thinking the whole thing last year because it was my first one? I can't say for sure.

I mean, I am definitely excited and I want to push myself to be better than last year but I guess I'm not taking it as seriously as I did the last time 'round.

This half marathon IS a big deal to me - but now I guess I just know what to expect.

My worst fear is that I'll end up over training like last time and end up with injuries again. I want to feel good and be intact when I cross the finish line this time. And I also really, really, reeeeally want to beat my time.

On Sunday afternoon, amidst some light house cleaning, I got sucked into watching an NBC sports "documentary" on the 2010 Iron Man competition in Kona, HI. By the end of the thing I was literally in tears. For a split second I even considered making a goal of doing one by the time I'm 40. (I think that was a rash decision which needs a lot more consideration...remember, I said I CONSIDERED making the goal.)

The limits to which all of these athletes pushed themselves was incredible. One man had crashed into another athlete during the 118-mile long biking leg and literally walked the entire 26-mile long marathon while in excruciating pain and limping. The man had probably broken bones and yet still managed to finish the competition by the cutoff time of midnight. I definitely cried when he crossed the finish line and dropped to his knees. Ah, incredible.

The whole thing was absolutely inspirational. The camaraderie among the participants, the sheer magnitude of each leg they had to complete, to limits to which they pushed their bodies and minds....*sigh* so amazing.

I don't know if I could ever complete one. But damn, it WOULD be cool.

Busy as a (baking) bee!

As we all know...I love to bake. I love to bake so much that I put that word out to friends and family to come to me with any of their baking needs. I did a few orders here and there over the past few months but in June my business went through the roof! I have 6 orders in June!!

I did a "movie clapper" graduation cupcake cake and graduation cookies, an order of Angry Birds themed cookies, some giraffe/flamingo/Power Rangers cookies, a family tree cupcake cake, a Hurley symbol cupcake cake and an order of 3 dozen cupcakes for a 60th anniversary! I was so thankful to have been able to contribute to the special days from all who ordered.

With the success of my baked goods spreading through word of mouth, I decided to expand to the online world. I opened an Etsy shop last week! I already have an order placed for 2 dozen Angry Birds cookies!

This is the cupcake cake I did for my niece's first birthday in May.

Angry Birds cookies!

60th Anniversary cupcakes.

Get ready to rock, get ready to roll...

I did it. Again. I registered for the Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Half Marathon....for the second time. As if last year weren't enough.

I started training on July 1 as I just couldn't get into a real running groove for a few weeks before that. Starting July 1 will still give me plenty of time to train I think.

My goal is to simply finish faster than last year's time. (Gah, I don't need to reiterate what my finish time was....)

I also changed the title of famous half marathon playlist from "A Marathon is 13.1 Miles. Remember that." to "13.1. Part 2." Ha. I added some new jams and kept some oldies but goodies.
