21 weeks down, 2 to go...*

November 21 - 27, 2010

I was out of town this week and my training schedule got all messed up because I was still feeling the effects of the 12 mile run the week before. For fear of messing something up and not being able to perform ideally in the half marathon, I decided it was best to take it easy. Little did I know what I was in for...

Sunday: Rest

Monday: Rest

Tuesday: Rest

Wednesday: Rest

Thursday: The 16th Annual Springfield Turkey Trot 5K! It was 32 degrees, windy and sleeting. I was soaked by the time I was done which unfortunately was a 37:49 finish.

Friday: Rest

Saturday: The 1st Annual Mansfield Turkey Trot 5K. I have nooooo idea what my time was. I mean...the Start/Finish line was drawn onto the road in chalk. : )

Sunday: Rest

I CANNOT believe the half marathon is IN ONE WEEEEEEK! December 5 came waaaaay too fast but I'm ready to conquer this adventure.

*I think that somewhere along the line I messed some weeks up. There's only one week left. Whatever. You get the point.

20 weeks down, 3 to go...

November 14 - 20, 2010

Sunday: 12 miles with my brother-in-law. Longest 12 miles of my entire life. I was in some serious pain throughout most of it and actually only ran about 7 or 8 miles. Walked the rest. Wore a brand new pair of the same kind of shoe I have been wearing for the last six months and the new pair was apparently too tight because my toes rubbed together and blood was shed. I'll leave it at that! I Could barely walk the next day and was sore for a few days after that.

Monday: Rest

Tuesday: Rest

Wednesday: Rest

Thursday: Rest

Friday: Rest

Saturday: 3 miles while in Missouri

Sometimes you just need to sing it out....

Don't tell me not to live, just sit and putter
Life's candy and the sun's a ball of butter
Don't bring around a cloud to rain on my parade

Don't tell me not to fly, I've simply got to
If someone takes a spill its me and not you
Who told you you're allowed to rain on my parade?

19 weeks down, 4 to go...

November 7 - November 13, 2010

Sunday: 9 miles

Monday: Rest

Tuesday: 4 miles

Wednesday: Skipped

Thursday: Rest

Friday: Rest

Saturday: Skipped in preparation for the next run...

This week was interesting. After doing 7 miles on Saturday the 6th, Sunday the 7th brought 9 miles. I felt great during the run, but toward the end my right knee started to tighten up. It was really sore and tight that night and I could barely sleep. My right leg is the leg with the shin splint trouble, so adding knee pain was just the icing on the cake. Upon doing some research, I pinpointed the feeling I was having and attributed the tightness/soreness/pain to the IT band. It felt better by Tuesday and I went ahead with my 4 miles.

Tune in for next week's update....it includes....wait for it.....12 miles. *dun, dun, dun!!!!!*

18 weeks down, 5 to go...

October 31 - November 6, 2010

Sunday: 5 miles on my first day "back"...felt ok, leg wasn't completely healed but I wasn't cringing either.

Monday: Rest

Tuesday: 5 miles

Wednesday: Rest

Thursday: 3 miles.

Friday: Rest

Saturday: 7 miles, BEST RUN EVER!!!!! I felt great!!! Like seriously. It was fantastic. It came out to 7.79 miles after I mapped it.

I cannot believe the half marathon is in just a few weeks. I am really excited! If you would have asked me a year ago if I would have ambitions for doing a half marathon - I would laughed outloud. Never, ever, ever did I think I would do this, but I'm figuring out that I can....and that I will.
